Fox, Australia’s most decorated canoe slalom athlete, confirmed she recently underwent an operation to remove a tumour from her kidney. According to her statement on Instagram, the surgery was successful and she is recovering at home. She described the experience as leaving her with “a couple of new scars, a bit less kidney, and more toughness.”
The 31-year-old, once part of Camperdown’s University of Sydney Elite Athlete Program, will miss the final legs of the European Canoe Slalom World Cup as she takes time to heal. While disappointed to step back from competition, Fox said she remains positive and grateful for the care she received.

Although she is now based at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium, Fox’s journey has ties to Camperdown, where she studied under the University of Sydney’s Elite Athlete Program.
